How to make an exhaust pipe filter (demonstrates solid tools
of tube, cone and cylinder. Demonstrates solid difference)
- Open
Rhinoceros 4.0
- Choose
the open of “Large Objects – Inches”

- Right
click on the 3D object tool.

- Chose
the tube solid tool.

- In the
right side view make the left click and make the first circle (relatively
large).
- Left
click again to end making the large circle then make a smaller circle
inside the lager circle.
- Left
click to finish the smaller circle then move over to the front view.

- Now
create the length of the tube left clicking away from the starting point
of the tube.

- Right
click on Perspective and choose shaded.

- Now
you have a tube.
- Choose
the Cone solid tool by:
- Right
click on the Solid tool icon.

- Then
click on the Cone tool.

- Turn
on Osnap and choose Cen. (on the bottom of your
screen)

- Now start
the cone in the center of the pipe.
- Make
the diameter of the pipe bigger than the center circle of the pipe but
smaller than the edge of the pipe.

- In Osnap turn off Cen and choose Mid.

- In the
front side view the height of the cone should be half of the pipe.
- Go to
solid ŕ
difference.

- Choose
the pipe and hit enter.
- Choose
the cone hit enter.
- Now
save your drawing. Fileŕ Save
- Choose
the Cylinder tool by:
- Right
click on the Solid tool icon.

- Then
click on the Cylinder tool.

- Put on
center in Osnap (on the bottom of your screen)

- Click
in the center of the pipe.
- Make
the cylinder bigger than the center of the pipe but smaller than the cone.
- Make
the length of the cylinder as long as you want.

- Turn
on Ortho (on the bottom of your screen)

- Now move
the cylinder to the other end of the pipe by dragging it (in the front view)

- Go to
solid ŕ
difference

- Choose
the pipe and hit enter.
- Choose
the cylinder hit enter.
- Now
save your drawing. Fileŕ Save
- Now you
have an exhaust pipe filter
